Crushing Tigers make their first implementation in an environmental project this year in Texas. The Sandvik QI240 impact crusher is being used in the construction of roads and foundations for wind turbines on land scattered throughout the state. Stretching from Abilene to Amarillo, these wind farms have allowed Texas to be the national leader in wind energy. With more installed capacity and more wind turbines than any other state, Texas's wind power is capable of meeting more than 18 times the state's current electricity needs. The industry has grown exponentially and will continue to do so, enabling a strong investment in wind energy related jobs. Crushing Tigers was able to support these construction needs with the Sandvik QI240, a mobile impact crusher designed to process construction materials on-site. Its design met all the specifications the customer was looking for, in turn making the logistics of the project highly productive and more efficient, as well as providing a minimal environmental impact to the land. How wind projects are developed First, companies seek out geographic areas with the strongest wind resource. Other critical factors in this process include access to land, an ability to sell the electricity and access to transmission lines. From there, the developer must prepare the land using various assessments of the resources available and attain all necessary permits. The majority of wind projects are located on private land that is then leased to the developer. Once the site and permits are set in place, wind turbines are ordered, electricity contracts are made and a construction company or contractor is hired to begin building the project.
